3 stars Without the musical writing skills of Kerry Livegren, Kansas is just not the same band. Only the second to last song has his mark on it, and it is one of his weaker ones. However, this is not a bad album, just not excellent. I enjoy "I Can Fly", "Hope Once Again", "Under the Knife", and "Freaks of Nature". Everything else is not very interesting. And Steve Walsh's voice seems to be straining at times? Years of singing I guess. This album screams 3 stars. Not bad, not great, just good. Kansas fans should own it (at least it ain't POWER or DRASTIC MEASURES), all others stick with their better work (1st 5 albums or so).
