GIANT ON THE BOX

This is incredible stuff. The musicianship these five guys display here is jaw-dropping. Watch in astonishment as Ray Shulman, Derek Shulman, Gary Green, John Weathers and Kerry Minnear flawlessly play over a dozen different instruments, including vibes, violin, cello and recorders--sometimes swapping them with each other in the middle of a piece. No one man should be allowed to have as much musical talent as Ray Shulman. I almost puked watching him jam away on an acoustic guitar duet with Gary Green, then the next minute he's bowing his fiddle or laying down some nimble bass lines. No band today does it like this anymore, melding virtuosity with musical audacity and juggling every genre from classical and medieval to folk and heavy metal. And the band members were only in their 20's back in 1974-75! Just sickeningly talented, Gentle Giant ply their craft here for the ages. A great video from the progressive treasure chest.
