4 stars This was actually my first Ant album. (I became a sucker for the Peter Cross album covers--as well as his illustrated books.) The (what I thought were) simple song constructs here actually spurred me on to work harder at my own beginning guitar and keyboard skills. Songs like "Beauty and The Beast" and "Tibetan Yak Music" have maintained their place among my all-time favorite instrumentals. I just love Ant's emotional expressiveness in these rather raw and rudimentary songs. Too bad for the poor recording/engineering, for this album has always been a favorite for ruminating late nights while sitting by the fire in the fireplace. But then, all of Ant's Private Parts and Pieces albums serve me in the same way. A man whose music connects with me, heart and soul.
