5 stars Of all the live albums ever created (and there are many), this gets the reward for second best (first goes to Judas Priest's Unleashed in the East, and some say that is not a true live album). Every one of these songs far exceeds how they were done on their studio albums (with the small exception of Child in Time, which is still great). The Mule is one of the best drum solo's ever, and it definitely proves that Ian Paice is a underrated drummer. The vocals are outstanding throughout, Gillan is able to scream almost as well as in the studio. Smoke on the Water is excellent too, considerably better than the studio version (it was even released as a single). It is perhaps arguable that this is not prog rock, however, this is one of the greatest live albums ever, and most hardcore prog fans will enjoy it. Absulote Brilliance, it has stayed in my 6 CD player ever since I bought it. Highly Recommended.
