Although Big Big Train has had a long-lived career of almost 15 years when he was in 2004, poisso safely say that it was with Gathering Speed things started to go well for the band. His three previous albums and their debut demo bordered between the mediocre and the median without really please me, but this album really shows a change in the character of the band - not only the band's new vocalist Sean Filkins (whose voice is very similar to the current David Longdon) integrates the sound is actually proposed and a notable addition, but the band sounds more mature.

In fact it can be demonstrated by their own songs, each one having something to offer. My favorite tracks here are the first three , High Tide, Last Stand Fighter Command and The Road Much Further On, but do not be deceived by my so called, all the songs are very good! In addition members seem more sure of themselves, and besides I do Filkins mention of guitarist Greg Spawton.

4 stars. Gathering Speed is a good album, just the beginning of the path that will lead to the consecration with The Underfall Yard.
