5 stars Crime Of The Century is often considered to be Supertramp's finest album. I'd have to agree on that. It's even better than Breakfast In America, which is also superb. Here though, the songs are consistently strong. This was the first output from the band's classic lineup and Hodgson and Davies nicely take it in turns to sing their songs including the classic "School" and one of my favourites "Bloody Well Right" which I think is a simple reminder that if you want to change things, whining about it isn't going to do it. I've always loved Davies' voice the best, it's wonderful and bluesy and his work on the keys fit in with it so well. "Asylum" also has a similar feel to it. Of the other Hodgson tracks "Dreamer is quite fun and a great sing-along number, but he leaves room for the more serious, emotional moments, such as "If Everyone Was Listening". My favourite of all is the title track which closes the album off. Love the piano and saxophone part at the end. Top notch playing and arrangements throughout! A must have.
