4 stars Honestly, I hated this album when it first came out. I thought it was way too Pop for the band. And don't get me started on "ROLL THE BONES" (a co-worker thought I'd like the Rap bridge on the title track, because I'm Black and was from New York. LOL).

Ten years later, I was about to sell it (clearing out some music), until I decided to give it another listen. And I found myself playing it again and again (also due to the fact that my GirlFriend at the time had "TEST FOR ECHO. The work that got me back inot RUSH again). I came to the conclusion that "PRESTO" was the most adult music RUSH had ever done. Rupert Hine (who at the time, I felt the WRONG choice for production duties) gave the group focus lyrically and musically. All the keyboarding from previuos outings fell into place on "PRESTO".

"PRESTO" sounded more along the lines of Beautiful, lush, New Age adult Pop. This was the same thing Joni Mitchel was doing with "WILD THINGS RUN FAST", "DOG EAT DOG", and "CHALKMARK IN A RAINSTORM" at the time. Geddy Lee voice especially went down a few registers. So it sounded more emotional. It was perfect for this record. And later outings.

I had to "grow up", in order to listen to "PRESTO"(other than the fact that Iwas doing Jazz, Folk, and more adult fare in radio). And I was glad I didn't toss it. I even changed my mind about "ROLL THE BONES" too.

I was hoping RUSH would stay this route for a bit. But like Miles Davis and Joni Mitchell, you either stay their musical course, or get off.
