Hm. "These Chains" was obviously the falsest of picks that could have made it as a single from "Radiation", although it's a decent tune.

I came across this maxi some years after its release ( in a 2nd hand shop ) and, of course, I was happy to get it, but nowadays I rather wish to have got "80 days" instead... because the "bonuses" there are far more exiting to me.

I'm not that a big fan of Radiohead, although they surely have their momentos. "Fake Plastic Trees" is not a favorite of mine, and, with Marillion performing it "unplugged", it still hasn't become one yet. It's a nice attempt at writing a song. But even Marillion can't make it a well written one. It's far too poor and, honestly, I ( as a songwriter myself ) can do far better on a good day, I believe ( don't want to offend any lovers of that band, though ). And the Marillos... well, it's beyond their grace to pay tribute to that band, sorry. It should be the other way round so maybe those young sports can add some merit to their overrated output.

"Memory of Water" is a track I really love. I love it just as it is on "This strange Engine", and I think that changing the strings for acoustic guitars, as Marillion did on "Less is more", was a good idea. I'm still not sure if the "Big beat Mix" was such a good idea, though.

To be honest, I can do without.

"Radiation" is a very underrated album. Even my rating on this site is too low. Go buy it and make up your own mind. "These Chains" is on there, and even better tracks are. If you're really in search of this Maxi and desperately want to own it you can contact me - I'd like to exchange it for "80 Days" or that "Sympathy"-one with "Garden Party" on it. But we can sure find another agreement as well. Thank you very much.
