5 stars Having read all the Rush album reviews in this excellent web-site I just had to get stuck in and review my fav Rush album 'Presto'. I'm giving it 5 as its head and sholders above what any band could conjour up on their 13th studio album or 15 years into their recording career. And that's only one of many reasons for doing so, here are some more : Rush to me are the most consistent band there has ever been, Rush fans will mostly agree with me here, most Rush fans either love prog or hard rock or both, in my case both - name any other band who have came close to what Rush have achieved musically with such diversity& integrity add to that solid album sales and sell out shows year in year out since 1976 ie from '2112' onwards, not stopping at 'Presto' but to the present day. A candidate maybe not for best band on the planet (we fans do think they are) but certainly the favourites for most consistent band in the world over the past 30 years.

Now onto 'Presto' - probably the biggest musical change took place from 'Hold your Fire' to 'Presto' than with say 'Moving Pictures' to 'Signals' which was a big change in direction. The songs are strong in all ways, musically, lyrically, rhythm and mood, not a bad song on the album, Scars is my least favourite but i'd still give it 7 out of 10, most of them would get a 9 or a 10 from me, I have had certain friends who said 'Presto' was too good and they weren't even Rush fans, I don't want to go on and on about Presto but i am still getting something different with every listen and have been since I bought it in 1989, 'The Pass' thankfully is still played live and remains the sole song from this album that is, if only the band knew how good this album was and that the fans of this album would far rather hear 'Superconductor', 'Presto', 'Chain Lightning' etc than 'Tom Sawyer', 'Freewill' etc, we still love these classic songs but what a treat it would be....
