4 stars Surfing in Prog Archives I realised this album had no reviews so, why not review it?

This is an excellent Deep Purple compilation, going with most known classics as "Smoke on the water", "Highway star", "Black night", "Speed king", "Child in time" and so many others... I bought this when I decided to start listening to Deep Purple some years ago... The songs are in chronological order, and this is good because it shows the band sound changes. But, unfortunately, "Pictures of home" is not on this compilation and "Child in time" is shorter. Some versions are remastered and they have better sound than in the original albums. The last two songs are from the actual Deep Purple era, with Steve Morse on guitars, and it sounds very different because Morse is one of those super-fast guitarists (with more metal influences), not master Blackmore's style (which I prefer so much).

Overall, it's a nice compilation. If you don't want to get into Deep Purple buy this.

PD: YOU MUST HAVE "MACHINE HEAD"!!
