4 stars Just another SW project? No. The best SW project? No.

Blackfield really does stand out against other countless projects of Porcupine Tree mastermind Steven Wilson. Unlike No-Man or Bass Communion that are notable for their experimental and adventurous approach, Blackfield features a dozen of straightforward and even poppy songs.

This however definitely isn't a bad thing as each song is incredibly emotional and atmospheric. Actually, accessibility is what makes this album so attractive: you can just turn it on whenever you want, even as background music, and you'll literally never get tired of it. Overall, a very relaxing and dreamy album and an excellent addition to any music collection. Although I still consider No-Man to be the best thing Steven Wilson has ever had to offer. :)
