5 stars I would like to quote rock critic Robert Christgau: "My favourite Pink Floyd album has always been Wish You Were Here, and you know why? It has soul, that's why..."

Spot on, Robert. You shouldn't be listening to 'Wish You Were Here'; you should be feeling 'Wish You Were Here'. It portrays Roger Waters' honest feelings towards Syd Barrett, the former vocalist and guitarist of Pink Floyd. The lyrics are just wonderful, and tells a very sad story accompanied by the bands floating sound. The build-up in the 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond'- parts is fantastic, 'Welcome to the Machine' and 'Have a Cigar' plays an important role in the structure of the album and are both excellent tracks (I especially like 'Have a Cigar'), and 'Wish You Were Here is just such a beautiful masterpiece. This is an album all people should hear before the reaper comes knocking, and I recommend it with all of my heart.
