5 stars This album was a late birthday present from a friend, and upon opening the amazon box, had no idea who these guys were! I had heard a little prog before this album, a little Genesis (good Genesis), and some music off the friend who had sent this to me, but this was the first prog album that I truely had a chance to give a proper go. Basically, this album is my favourite (I am well into prog these days) out all the albums I have heard. The line up is brilliant, and this album has a lot to offer in terms of variety, and solid music composition. Contrary to my friends, I would vote Duel with the Devil as my top song on this album. It's a very powerful piece, with some brilliant transitions between different moods of music, and I can't say that there is a weak point in this 27 minute epic. Suite Charlotte Pike is good fun, though my least favourite on the album. (The medly on the live in europe DVD is pretty cool though). Bridge Across Forever is a nice piece with Neal on Piano, a very atmospheric piece. The album finished off brilliantly with Stranger In Your Soul which has some excellent moments througout. This song has a great moments, as a fan string instruments, the string elements work well for me. Enjoyable for the whole 1/2 hour! This album has remained my favourite, perhaps because it was the first, but in anycase, I'd say this album was worth the buy! Great all the way through. Shame it had to end, but Neal had his reasons, and who knows... Perhaps a Second Transatlantic venture is possible in the future!
