1 stars Well... being a huge Dream Theater fan I bought this album without any pre-listening. This was a big mistake. This is the only Dream Theater album I entirely dislike. There are a few great songs but this is NOT the Dream Theater known from ''Images and Words'', ''Awake'' or ''A Change of Seasons'', which are all great albums in my point of view. There is however something good about this album too. ''Lines in the sand'', ''Peruvian skies'', ''Hell's kitchen'' and the second part of ''Trial of tears''- ''Deep in heaven'', are not bad songs but not good either. For me as a fan of DT this album is a big disappointment. The main reason for this is that the album just isn't prog nor usual DT. A big role in its failure had certainly the nazi-record company and Kevin Shirley, who produced this thing. Well, the album didnt fail in selling results, it had a very good go in the stores, it failed in my eyes. It was the pop-structure and radio-friendlyness of these songs that upset me and made the record popular. So, anyway I recommend DT fans that want to purchase this album be extra careful. This isn't the prog DT that I enjoy as one of the greatest bands ever. I'm very disappointed with this album.
