2 stars Previuosly released as a vinyl LP in 1984 but with fewer selections, this anthology of early Omega focuses on tracks which were only issued as singles between 1967 and 1971. Combining traditional Hungarian stylings with 1960`s psychedelia the technical quality of these recordings has been greatly enhanced due to remastering magic. This remarkable collection provides an interesting glimpse into the band`s formative years behind the iron curtain with three different line-ups being represented .

If you are expecting the progressive rock sounding Omega sound from the 70`s which featured spacey synthesiser sounds and fiery guitar solos then you will definitely be somewhat dissappointed. There are a couple of tracks which were later re-recorded in the English language on Bellaphon records which might be of interest, though. Both 200 Years After the Last War ( 200 evvel az utolso haboro ) and One Man Land ( Hutlen barotok ) can be heard in their original Hungarian versions here.

A great piece of 60`s rock from a legendary band which is a great album to have alongside the first three Omega longplaying studio albums but perhaps of interest to nostalgia fans only.
