2 stars Woof! What an appropriately named album.

Okay, I've just gone back and re-listened to this album since my first rating. It's not quite as bad as I remembered, but it's not very good.

The previous Crack The Sky album, "From The Greenhouse", was, comapared to most of their albums, a success, mostly due to teh fact that much of the album sounds like a mix of Pink Floyd and the Beatles. This one continues in that vein. However the Pink Floyd it most resembles is the Watered-down Floyd of the last few albums.

It starts with some Floyd-like machine noises, and goes into the first track, "Dog City". This sounds like it could have come right off of "The Division Bell". Next is "Love Me Like A Terrorist", which is now more in bad taste than it was at the time it was written. This song also begins sounding like late Floyd, but then goes hard rock on us. I actually like the break near the end. It almost brings back the glory CTS days, but it's very short.

Next is "Lost Boys", which has an intro that sounds like it was ripped off from "Wish You Were Here". "Mr. President" has a rhythm track that soungs like Zep's "When The Levee Breaks", and the exact same stolen Floyd hook used in the song "From The Greenhouse". And "Waiting For The New World" sound like a slowed down version of "From The Greenhouse", minus the above mentioned hook. "Dog Redux" is just some riffing over "WelcomeTo The Machine"-like sound effects.

The remainder of the songs are forgettable pop/rock fare.

And John Palumbo produced the album himself. He should have fired himself. The instruments are all muddy sounding, and the vocals all sound like they were recorded in Palumbo's closet.
