The idea of combining two elements as opposites - one Metallica and the orchestra - is as shocking as its result: a work that works! S & M is where the album was recorded all this, the joining of forces of these mega-stars of heavy metal with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the late Michael Kamen. As a young man in the universe started this band I can say I am very pleased (and now I must leave for their studio albums and compare the original versions of songs with those presented here). The highlights on disc 1 are due to the first three songs - especially The Call of Ktulu, which can overcome the fantastic original version and deservedly won the Grammy for best instrumental song! - and Hero of the Day, while on disc 2 has the highlights Nothing Else Matters and One. 4 stars!
