3 stars This album features the tracks from the extremely rare so-called "Laughing Stock singles box" as well as a piano piece written and performed by Mark Hollis. It contains three tracks from the "Laughing Stock" album, an alternate take of "After The Flood" from the same album and three new tracks. Of course it is not a masterpiece, but it is listenable...

"Myrrhman", "New Grass" and "Ascension Day" are the same songs as on "Laughing Stock". The version of "After The Flood" here only contains the last four minutes of the song that appears on "Laughing Stock". "Stump" is a cool song - some experimental music a little bit like what Lee Harris and Paul Webb do with their folk/rock band .O.rang. "5:09" sounds like it has been constructed from the excess material recorded during the "Laughing Stock" sessions as well as from material actually used on the album - some really experimental stuff. "Piano" is simply a piano piece - 14 minutes of really boring stuff...

Rating: 73/100 (good)
