5 stars Clockwork Angels is certainly a rewarding listen 5 years since the release of "Snakes and Arrows": and one thing is clear, Rush are still relentless as ever and loving what they are doing!

The 2 opening tracks previewed last year as part of their "Time Machine" tour really caused a stir. Caravan being a landmark, it absolutely rocks, the musicianship is stunning and as Neil stated in a recent interview it went into a feel that they haven't done before, the instrumental section consists of some really inspiring moments, where as BU2B emphasised that heavy sound that Rush are going for.

The eventual release of the album was an exciting revelation of that consistent heaviness throughout the album in all the songs with familiar but fresh riff work on tracks such as Seven Cites of Gold and Headlong Flight. Infectious melodies and catchy riffs appear throughout the entire album with some really heartfelt moments, particularly in the last two tracks, "Wish them well" and "The Garden"

The record is superbly produced by Rush with Nick Raskulinecz really elevating their sound, to me they sound heavier and sonically larger than most Metal bands out there. It's a given with Rush that all main instruments sound stunning collectively, but with the addition of huge sound effects on the likes on BU2B and strings on Halo Effect and The Wreckers, all songs provide a wall of stunning atmosphere.

Lyrics wise Neil Peart really outlines the plot excellently whilst the artwork is also superb and compliments the concept perfectly: I recommend buying the CD and taking some time experiencing the album from start to finish.

It's great to see that pushing their 60's, Geddy, Alex and Neil are on top of their game, enjoying themselves and providing great music and killer live shows.
