4 stars THE MISSING FACE is finally a GENTLE GIANT-bootleg with a good sound-qualitiy! The album was released at the Glasshouse Records label and contains 11 tracks, most are from the THE MISSING PIECE-era and some are from THE POWER AND THE GLORY. THE MISSING FACE also includes "Funny Ways" from the album GENTLE GIANT and Free Hand from the same titled album. It seems that the song "Betcha Thought We Couldn't Do It" doesn't really fit in the order of the songs GENTLE GIANT used to play at this gig, but it is rocky anyway. The most rocky songs are "Two Weeks In Spain", "Free Hand", "The Face" and "For Nobody". The most beautiful songs are of course "Funny Ways" and "Memories Of Old Days" where four members of GENTLE GIANT play the guitar. Regrettably the volume turns up and down in a few songs, especially in "Free Hand", but this happens very unfrequent. Furthermore the violins are too calm on "On Reflection", but the resourcefully chant in several voices lifts the quality of this song up. However, I think this is (one of) the best release(s) of the Glass House Records label concerning GENTLE GIANT.
