4 stars This third part of the "Anthology" series may be not as essential as the second, but itīs more recommendable than the first onen (if only for the overall excellent sound quality). Here you will find a whole CD covering the "White Album" period, one of the most interesting by The Beatles, in which they were escaping from psychedelia and trying to get back to the roots. The "White Album" (or "The Beatles") is as a compilation of some of the different musical styles of the XX century: pop, rock, folk, hard-rock, country, blues, 20īs jazz, and even avant-garde. So this first CD of the third "Anthology" series is a way to discover the facts behind the art. The second CD is dedicated to the roots of what became the "Let it Be" and "Abbey Road" albums. Besides different versions of some of the Beatles popular songs ("Ob-la-di Ob-la-da", "Hey Jude", "Get Back", "Something", "Come Together" or "Let It Be"), there is some fantastic stuff: the unreleased "A Beginning" (by the "fifth Beatle" George Martin) or "Come and Get It" (a demo played entirely by Paul McCartney), plus some tracks that The Beatles never released, but later appeared on some Beatles solo albums: "Junk", "Not Guilty" or "All Things Must Pass". For the nostalgic, a cover of "Ainīt She Sweet", one version that they previously did in Hamburg before they became famous...
