2 stars The original release had a great picture disc , which was certainly a first in the prog world. Trouble was the Picture disc wore out after a couple of plays. Of course in the days of expensive diamond styli an LP that damaged your equipment was a big error. This had the effect of pissing a lot of folk off and Curved Air got labeled as a gimmick band as a result. The first black vinyl copies were only slightly better sounding which is a shame as somewhere under the bad mix and awful production lies a half decent band playing their sometimes interesting material. The best cut is probably Vivaldi with cannons which is pretty good is a little like the nice or elp's take on jazzing up classical themes. And another commentator said Curved Airs records need a good remix effort. This LP suffers far to much from bad production to be recommended which is a great shame. Should you come across a copy of the picture disc buy it but don't play it. It is hard to dislike a band with such a good looking lead vocalist...Sonja was always thinking mans crumpet !
