4 stars To me, this albumstands out as the definite highlight of Iron Maiden's career, mixing elements from all previous releases into an incredible, slightly progressive blend of melodic guitars, raw basslines, tight drums and very nice vocals.

As always, Iron Maiden delivers some of the finest riff based heavy metal, but on Powerslave, this is combined with ambient parts, prog metal style guitars and experimentation with egyptian scales. The songs are varied and build up very nicely, the calm sections making the heavy ones even more effectful, and there is not a single "unnecessary" track on the album. Aces High, 2 Minutes To Midnight and the mighty 13 minute long Rime Of The Ancient Mariner are some of my personal Iron Maiden favorites of all time.

A great album, and one of the finest moments in heavy metal history.
