3 stars Perennial Quest is an obscure prog metal band coming from Germany with two releases issued so far. Persistence from 2008 is the second offer and is an ok album overall. Musicaly speaking the album is quite complex with lots of instrumental passages, that are the best parts of the album, the vocal lines while are ok are nothing special, but not bad. I'm not attached at all by the more rougher throaty vocal part who appear here, really, sounds forced and without consistency. There plenty of technical passages to keep any prog metal listner conected to the music, special the drumer and the guitar player is excellent, on pieces like opening track Dream over, The way to your heart. Also there is an epic clocking around 28 min with lots of tempo changes and lots of nice interludes between musicins but to me is not the best track of the album, is little to long and after 15 min I've lost contact with the music. Anyway a good album, but nothing really ground breaking or something alike. 3 stars, nice cover art.
