4 stars Strangely enough, for someone who dislikes compilations, especially those of my favourite bands, this one works. Both as a fine introduction to the music that Ange put out during their supposed peak years 69-78. But also as an album. If you didn't know about the different releases and the conceptual stories that the songs were part of, you wouldn't find the order of the songs out of order. Going from classic like Au dela du Delire to Ego Et Deus, or Marchand des Planetes to Caricatures, it just seems like the band injected each song with a differing soundscape, but that it was put together as one release. SO if you're wondering what all the hubbub fanboys like myself brew about Ange, this is an excellent place to start. It includes the pastoral, the symphonic, the so-called French Theatrical, basically all the various styles that Ange would offer.
