Recorded live "streaming" onto the internet, this album documents the stunning power of a live Ozric show & shows the technical savy of the band.The songs are a great selection of their material. If "Cat DNA" does not have you bouncing off your seat/walls/road or this planet you just might be brain dead, enough said.

Spiced out? Not on this beauty. Streamed live on the internet this is a must for any OT fan. ' Cat DNA' and the unbelievable ' Eternal Wheel' will confirm that there is no other drug or spice or whatever than can get you as high as this music can. It is great to think that IMO these guys continued what Hillage had begun from 1985 onwards. Great album.

i'm a huge fun of ozric tentacles and specially of Ed Wynne,i consider him as one of the greatest composers of all time,οn this kind of music that can not easily be discribed... Now regarding the "spiced doubt" album,from the first hearing it blew me away,what a great live album,100% live feeling althought there is no audience (but this is the last thing for me),awesome performance on all tracks,specially "eternal wheel",takes you to utopian worlds!!! 1998 the year of realise,following the 'curious corn" album and what we have here is the best line up of the band (for me),all members showing their skills,and i must stay in rad's (drums) performance and seaweed's (keyboards),these guys rules. "spiced doubt' is the most representative live album of ozric tentacles and i believe the most representative generally for someone that would like to explore their music world for the fist time...

This is a curious live-in-the-studio release from Ozric Tentacles, who recorded it a couple of days after a barnstormer of a set at the Fillmore. A studio had been experimenting with the potential of streaming audio - this was back in the late 1990s, so forget about your YouTubes and your Twitches, we're talking the Realplayer era here - and so the Tentacles obligingly agreed to test-drive the technology with a live show streamed directly over the 1998-era Internet.

Fortunately, Spice Doubt doesn't come in that low bitrate quality those of us old enough remember from those times - you get here the high-quality input, not the low-quality output your dial-up connection would have served up had you tried to listen to the original stream. The band opt for a high-energy, fast-paced set, with less of the slow reggae groove we're used to hearing from them and more of the fusion-like technical virtuosity which we've always known they've had, but which could often be overlooked. As a result, Spice Doubt manages to have a somewhat different sound from, say, Live Underslunky (their previous official live release), amply justifying its existence as more than a document of an ahead-of-its-time online experiment.
