3 stars To be honest, I love to watch rock documentaries and since the late Seventies I have build up a huge collection with TV footage (British -, German and Belgian television) and since a few years I am collecting documentary DVD's like the Inside serie by Classic Rock and this Rock Milestones DVD serie that also put its focus on albums like Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, Paranoid by Black Sabbath, Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy and Made In Japan by Deep Purple.

I am very pleased with this docu DVD about Led Zeppelin IV, their most acclaimed studio effort and often considered as one of the best rock albums. It contains great live footage, especially Stairway To Heaven with JP Jones on Mellotron and Jimmy Page on his Gibson twin-neck and Rock And Roll with great interplay between Bonham and Page. We can listen to lots of interesting quotes, from reviewers to musicians and recording-technicians like "On IV Led Zep made libido led music", "With IV Led Zeppelin said we are back, sexy and loud" and "Led Zep live during Rock And Roll was watching four animals in a cage". Most of the tracks from this album are very well analysed in a pleasant way like an explanation about the classic guitar riff in Black Dog, about Going To California is told that it was meant as an hommage to Joni Mitchell and Bob Carruthers (from Classic Rock) impresses with his musical analysis about Stairway To Heaven (about Romantism and the influence by JS Bach). Also interesting are the stories about the spooky recording place Headly Grange, the four symbols (including a delicate explanation) and the panic at the Atlantic Records when the label was confronted with the fact that Led Zeppelin wanted to release their fourth album without any reference ("the contract had a small part in which Led Zeppelin was given complete creative control").

If you are up to this kind of DVD's, you will be pleased with Rock Milestones Led Zeppelin's IV!

2 stars A fairly amusing documentary about Led Zeppelins fourth album, one of Rocks milestones - as pointed aout in the title - so what could go wrong?

Well, not much. A lot of anectodes is learned about the songs and the album itself through various interviewed reviewers (and Heather Findlay from Mostly Autumn).

What I miss are new interviews from the band, especially done for this DVD. They only have some old taped or filmed interviews from the 70s.

Also, "Mistly Mountain Hop" are barely mentioned and "The Battle Of Evermore" is not mentioned at all. It's one of my favourites on the album and I feel it's strange to omitt it.

All in all, though, a informative DVD, and can be nice to have if you like Led Zeppelin IV/Zozo/Whatever it's called. Not much more, so two stars for Collectors/fans only.
