2 stars The most straightforward post-bop offering by Coryell until now finds him possessing a fine technique and very mellow guitar sound that melts together with the polished piano playing. It's refreshing to see Coryell switch to a different kind of jazz and enrich the acoustic guitar sound by playing in a quartet with piano, bass and drums. The setlist is laid-back with piano and guitar clearly leading the pack. In my version of the album, the recording clearly favours piano and guitar with drums not as audible as on usual jazz record.

"Twelve and twelve" has almost a fusion played guitar only with the jazz guitar sound, also the rhythm is not typically post-bop driven. Guitar playing is sublime and warm. On the last track "It never entered my mind", Coryell lets female vocal sing while accompanied neatly by his solo guitar.
