2 stars SEEDOG seems to be an one-off session project which only produced this album in 1974. Initiated by drummer Dieter Burmeister who also had collaborations with Ash Ra Tempel and Agitation Free. The recordings are blending several styles in its entirety making it really impossible to categorize. The german label Delta Acustic experimented with 360 degrees stereo effects at that time and the album was recorded for some special Sennheiser headphones for example.

The first song Out Of The City is starting semi-acoustic. This sounds not very unique - popular like the band America (A horse with no name). Seerock is in a jazz rock vein later fading into a jamming part with excellent spacey guitar contributions. So this song can be considered as the album highlight. Scizoid Game and Black Suits are quite simple in parts like a Liverpool beat band of the 60s making the first step forward. And Espresso Brazil finally is mixing up a slight latin beat, a fusion touch and folksy elements.

'We Hope To See You' is technically okay but I'm missing inspiration though. Who hopes to detect many krautrock references because of Burmeister's work for Ash Ra Tempel's 'Seven Up' will be disappointed.

2 stars Seedog is one of those one album wonders. The band was formed by Dietmar Burmeister of Ashra Tempel and Agitation Free.

The first thing that meets me is some really bad sound. I can live with that if the music is good. The music on this album is some kind of pop orientated space rock with flutes, guitars, keyboards and vocals. The vocals are good. The same can be said about the flutes.

The music is not too bad. The songs are OK. The music is a bit too middle of the road rock/pop to interest me. There is no really great or even good songs here and that is a major problem when the sound is bad too. A decent album, but nothing more.

2 stars
