3 stars Strange compilation because with material by EMI remastered editions plus "Gettin' Tighter" with Tommy Bolin as axeman. So Gillan Vs Coverdale? No, and in fact this compilation was not good in this way. Also MK 1 is present only with one song ("Kentucky Woman", a cover).

In the vast wilderness of Purple's compilation this is one of the most interesting compilations. Almost all at budget price, just to avoid mistakes. But a great defect is the absence of "Burn" and "Smoke On The Water", because of the presence of "Gettin Tighter" (that for me is "Smoke..." or "Burn" of Bolin).

In definitive "Highway Star" is a good compilation with all the 60's and 70's Purple's Mks. And for the fact that the songs are present in the remastered versions (except for "Gettin Tighter") this is one of the more good Purple's compilations.
