1 stars ******Warning-Record Company Money Making Scam**********

At least that is what the abomination should have been called. Not happy with stealing from it's fans in 1999 with Turn it On Again the hits Genesis in the spirit of the Turn it on Again tour puts this piece of excrement called originally enough Turn It On Again The Hits- THE TOUR EDITION(insert rolling eyes emoticon here). So what makes this one different? Well there are two disks now and added material from both the Gabriel years and one, Congo, from Calling All stations. Are you thrilled yet? They put the songs through some kind of remaster I guess to make them sound better if that is possible.

So no need to dwell on the Collins era hit singles if you like them you probably already own them so why buy this? Don't. I will mention what they did with Gabriel era songs. If you are a slight bit curious as to how the remastering might sound then there are a couple of songs like Counting Out Time and I Know What I Like actually do sound better and what could have been a real gem The Knife sounds great until they cut it off half way through the song! Unfreaking believable! Other things added like Trick of the Tail and Your Own Special Way again give over to the pop side of the band. How about a remastered peek at how Watcher of the Skies might sound instead? Nope they put Happy the Man! Are you kidding me?

Fortunately I didn't pay for this it was given to me as well meaning gift but wow maybe a better title is See Me on Ebay for $2.99 Soon. 1 star

*Note*I would suggest to anyone who wants to hear the remastered version of some the Gabriel songs (there are only 4) download just those songs and save a bundle. Oh and Carpet Crawlers is that stupid 1999 version ignore it

2 stars 2007 was not a great year for Genesis and record companies screamed for another album so this is it folks. Another compilation to coincide with the tour at the time. I believe it was sold at concerts but its a shame it has nothing new to offer apart from a remastered rendition of old singles and cuts every Genesis fan should already own. It includes the watered down Carpet Crawlers 1999 version too. Most of these songs have plagued compilations but with 2 CDs this time there's more to offer.

The best...

It includes some great tracks such as Duchess, my favourite, Turn It On Again, No Son Of Mine, Jesus He Knows Me, Follow You Follow Me, A Trick Of The Tail, Counting Out Time, I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe) and Happy The Man. That's about the only tracks worth returning to.

The worst...

The Knife (3:17) is butchered down by half it's length and is a tragedy as a result. Congo, come on that's Genesis worse album and nothing from its any good, and then theres the ones that even my wife likes to sing such as I Can't Dance, Invisible Touch, and Illegal Alien.

So overall some assorted good stuff and a whole swag iof dross to wade through. Again it's a collectors piece showcasing just how far removed from greatness Genesis had become.

2 stars #57 Review

A year later from my previous review i decided to own the album i reviewed, but the version released 8 years after. I encourage you to read my previous review as i will attempt to not repeat myself, and i can say that even without reading my previous one, my written sentiments where similar, and somehow, this release sold very well, and similarly to my previous review, i still don't understand why.

While i haven't seen the packaging of the original, this release lists the tour dates and has artwork featuring characters, including a tree, a toy and a hand... other than that, the track listing has no mistakes other than saying "carpet crawlers 99 original version from 1974" which is not incorrect but i would've liked them adding a nod to the previous release. I still wanted the packaging to feature images of the singles and something more, so in general is very boring, specially compared to something like Archive 2.

Ok, about the music, they tried to cram everything in except From Genesis To Revelation, but also, they skipped Foxtrot, the lady with the fox head is in the artwork but there's nothing from that album. The songs have the same problems i listed on my previous review, but also, they decided to add a cut version of The Knife (no pun intended), and the audio of this release is louder, than the original releases of these track, because they are the 2007 remaster version except for Abacab that sounds like it was taken from the video.

Honestly, the intent behind this album could've been great if they added every single together with their artworks and what not, but then they added incomplete EPs and not all the singles released by Genesis are included so this release is a disorganized mess that on this day an age barely has any appeal. I truly believe that Genesis should do a proper singles compilation release and then do a full on B-sides release, that would be awesome, but as it stands, i can't recommend this album, however its an improvement from the previous one, and Genesis decided to re-release the previous one with the excuse of never being released on Vinyl, i feel like this one can be 2 stars but not my previous review that i need to update for the newest release.
