3 stars One of early Miles release, first full album with his New Quintet. The music there is bop and cool jazz, 5 jazz standards and one Miles' composition (Theme). Sound is relaxed and pleasant, but all album still sounds as evidence from old gold time (ok, just from 50-s but how long ago it was!).

Both Miles and another future star John Coltrane play still very regular bop on this album and one hardly can imagine how different their music will become just few years later.

Besides of Miles and Coltrane names on line up this album is hardly very interesting in any sense. Competent musicianship, but nothing more. Possibly, interesting release for Miles collectors, but hardly attractive or important for anyone interesting in progressive rock (or even fusion).

My rating is 2+ rounded to 3.
