2 stars A lively evening with Angelo Branduardi in Berlin of all places.

Angelo Branduardi is probably one of the most popular folk music artists in Italy. He has also released some pretty proggy folk music albums which has earned him a place in the Rock Progressivo Italiano genre. And his album La Luna is indeed a great Rock Progressivo Italiano album.

On this album, you get a mix of pop and folk rock. That is acoustic instruments with Angelo's voice on the top in the mix. His voice is excellent so that is OK for me. The problem is that the music is not that exciting to keep my interest going for sixty seven minutes. In particular when his most interesting song La Luna comes two minutes into the album and disappears again quite quickly. The remaining sixty minutes plus is a bit of a test of my stamina. His polished take on folk music also reminds me too much about The Corrs; a gruesome act from Ireland who ravaged these shores ten years ago.

In short, this album is not bad at all. But this period of Angelo's career is not that interesting for those of us who likes more than strumming on an acoustic guitar and a lovely voice on the top of that. Which explains my verdict.
