3 stars 3.5 stars. A definite step up from the debut as "Chickenfarm" was released in 1975 the year after their self titled recording. This German band is still a seven piece but one of the two guitarists left being replaced by a keyboardist which is a positive as we had no keyboards on the debut. Another big positive is that the 3 sax players aren't blasting in my face this time and the vocalist also has calmed down thankfully. Just a better sounding album for sure. I actually like a couple of the songs here. In fact the way this album ends has me wishing they did a third record in the style of the final two tracks.

"Feigenblatt"opens with the rain falling, funny the wind is howling outside right now but we're more likely to get snow than rain. Melancholic sax and electric piano arrive then drums and bass join in. I like this! And hey it's an instrumental! Thankyou. The closer has vocals but this almost 10 1/2 minute title track is so impressive.

While the debut is 3 stars and nothing more this album is 3.5 stars and maybe even closer to 4 stars, a big improvement.
