4 stars 4.5 stars. This is cdr number 5 from the band. It's a companion to the studio album "Borrowed Atoms" released in 1998.These four tracks were taken from the same sessions but left off because as the band says they would be getting close to triple album territory if they included them. They were too good not to release so here they are.

"Weightless" opens with spacey sounds that sort of float then these keyboard-like sounds come and go. Mellotron 3 minutes in.What a beautiful soundscape 5 1/2 minutes in. Louder sounds come and go and you can hear someone walking around. Ominous is the word before 10 minutes then this electronic beat comes in. More mellotron 12 1/2 minutes in. Gorgeous. Check out the mellotron choirs here. My God! "Snap" features these sounds that come and go in a powerful manner. Strange sounds 2 1/2 minutes in as the spacey waves continue. Mellotron before 6 minutes and the guitar follows. Check out the mellotron 11 minutes in with deep bass sounds. Amazing !

"All The Water In The Universe Is Melted Comets" has these electronic noises with other sounds over top. Mellotron after 4 minutes. A loud bell 5 minutes in starts to come and go.The mellotron is so good. An electronic beat after 7 1/2 minutes. It's all building a minute later. So good ! Then mellotron floods the scene. The guitar starts to solo 9 1/2 minutes in with that electronic beat and mellotron.Too much! The guitar is replaced by electronics 16 1/2 minutes in as the guitar stops lighting it up. It becomes spacey and ominous late. "Cathedral Floor" builds as sounds cry out and clanging noises come in. Mellotron after 3 minutes. A calm before 7 minutes then the mellotron returns. It's spacey before 10 minutes. The guitar comes in and check it out after 16 minutes as the waves of sound continue. Synths replace the guitar as they rain over top of the soundscape.

4.5 stars and very close to 5 stars. This is like a beautiful dream with all the mellotron and spacey waves. This is the best cdr of the first five released by the band in my opinion.
