What a surprise, this trully masterpiece is not reviewed jet?!

First of all let's say that this piece is quiet different from the other TK's albums, "Elden Av År" is more mellodic, it has more solos virtuosly played. The best tracks are - "Nightflight", "Möte" and "Nightflight - 77 ". Other 5 tracks are also nice except the self-titled one, which sounds light poppish.....

I think this album is TKs best work, sorry to all who ikes "Krigssång" much more?!?!

PROG REVIEWER
4 stars 4.5 stars. "Elden Av Ar" means "The fire of years". Four of these songs actually had their beginnings in 1977, but this project was shelved at that time. The only complete song from back then was the instumental "Night Flight-77". The incomplete others were "Elden Av Ar", "Mote" and "Molnbudet". The other four songs are brand new. So this record is actually a reunion of the band, which can be disasterous as you know, but this couldn't have been more successful. Some feel this is the best record they have ever put out, which is really saying something considering that ANGLAGARD and LANDBERK both count TRETTIOARIGA KRIGET as a big influence on their music. The guitar really is the focus of this band's sound, although organ, mellotron and piano definitely add to the soundscapes.

The first song "Liuset" is the longest. The arrangments on this song are genius, we don't hear the Swedish vocals until about 3 1/2 minutes in.The song ends with a nice extended guitar solo. "Night Flight" is another beautiful song. Again the guitar playing is out of this world ! Amazing !

"Lang Historia" has some nice drum / guitar interplay, but it's all about the beat on this one. I'm sure this guy can make his guitar speak and sing. The vocals come in and then it's back to the groove sound of the start, and the guitar not the vocalist made this happen ! The guitarists name is Christer Akerberg, you and I need to know this. He's at it again on "Mote" a beautiful intro leading to some really inspired playing. We're not worthy !

This record really surprised me in many ways, and i've found a new guitar god as well. I will be hunting down their earlier releases to see what so inspired LANDBERK and ANGLAGARD, although I think I already know.

4 stars Another pleasant surprise!

A friend passed on some works of this band, a band that I've never heard of before. Another one of their other albums "Kriegssang" was high;y recommended, but always a rebel, I decided to do reverse order, just for the sake of it.

So, not expecting "too" much, I gave this album a spin and resumed of checking my mail. Soon my ears flopped up. Hey, I can happily relate to music like this! My attention suitably aroused. this experience had soon become of outright interest.

On this album the band is very close to what Pink Floyd were about around 1971. Tasteful, laid back, no stress compositions laced with nice guitar work, also reminiscent of early Gilmour approaches. There is even a hint of SBB in parts. The vocals appear to be somewhat less impressive, but since I don't speak the language, I can't comment on their value as in poetry.

What impresses the most is that they don't try too hard, not trying to impress! Heartfelt music, not made to cater for Top10, or to please the record industry, or to score dumb groupies.

No doubt, the music is simple and uncomplicated and therein is it's true value. Recommended for those who can't have enough of early Pink Floyd. There are some weaker moments, but as a whole it easily qualifies for rating of 4.

A footnote. When reading reviews on PA, I generally bypass Crossover - under which this band is currently listed and something that I am not in agreement with. Had it not been for my friend, I would never have displayed any interest as such.
