5 stars ACCOMPLICE is a Prog-Metal band from California, USA. They released their debut-album independently a couple of years ago. This is a re-issue for the European market by the Italian label Adrenaline Records of ACCOMPLICE's debut-album. Besides the original album this re-release also contains an unreleased Studio Bonus-Track "Crusader Soul".

Their music is a mix between DREAM THEATER, JOURNEY, KANSAS, QUEENSRYCHE, RUSH, SAVATAGE, STYX and VANDEN PLAS with strong melodies and harmonies. They are very talented musicians and their compositions are complex, yet accessible. The singer Stephen Green reminds a lot of Geoff Tate of QUEENSRYCHE.

ACCOMPLICE are a very promising band that we probably will here more from in the future. This is a very professional debut album!

3 stars More hard rock than prog metal, but if your tastes fall in between those both, then this is for you. They also weave a bit more AOR into their song structures and are a bit more melodic than your run of the mill prog metal band. If you enjoy AOR/hard rock with prog tendencies, then this is right up your alley.

2 stars Having gone to high school in the 70's and many an arena metal show in the 80's, I can appreciate where these guys are coming from. However, in the ensuing 20-30 years, music and music production has evolved to such unimaginable heights that to sit and listen to this stuff now is like a bad trip. OK, it doesn't necessarily claim to be "progressive", yet references are made to Rush, Styx, Kansas and Dream Theater. Please! It sounds like countless hard rock bands releasing albums in the 80's. I would have loved this 25 years ago but we've come SO far........please don't get me wrong, I still listen to TONS of stuff from both the 70's and 80's but generally I set the bar very high and this slides cleanly below it. If the point was to go retro, than that they did, but it's not really that good. Kinda cheesy actually. Teen anthems and reeking of hair metal pompousness. Back in the day, department stores had dollar bins where you could snag albums by bands that were not selling well..........that's where this would belong. Save your money!
