4 stars I heard Infinity Window play and bought this CD at an experimental/avantgarde festival back in the day. I was rather surprised to recently discover that they are listed on PA. I listen to a lot of experimental electronics, and much of it isn't listed here as it is really more avantgarde that isn't really connected to a rock tradition (whereas the Berlin school had some clear prog rock connections).

They probably earned their admission to the site by incorporating some strong sequencer/rhythmic elements and oscillation (not so much in the first track, which is the weakest in my opinion). The longer we get into the album, the more one can hear some similarities to first half seventies Tangerine Dream for example. Overall however this is meditative slowly moving electronic sound with little structure or melody. There is enough development and life in the sounds to make it worthwhile though, even some kinds of crescendo. The highlight is the spooky title track. Foaming Tusk pretty much sounds like what you'd expect from the title, very droney, and Panama Rose brings some more optimistic sparkling sounds and space atmosphere in after the very dark first 20 minutes. The album is rather short at 35 minutes, but I think they got the lengths of the tracks right. They are long enough to really get into the meditative mood, but they end before they become boring or all too repetitive (who isn't into this kind of music will probably disagree about the latter statement).

For most prog fans this is probably a tough nut to crack; if you are not into experimental electronics without structured composition, then hands off. I think it's pretty good though. 3.7 stars (a bit more for me personally but maybe less for a standard PA reader).
