2 stars This is the last album (to my knowledge) of their second birth and again a fairly controversial one. It is very similar to the previous Brain Waves and uses some of the same techniques including samples. What was highly suspicious on BW is not very evident , they were didling with sampling machines , programming etc... Not what I expect from the once mighty TEB . I do not appreciate this album for a few reasons , although the results make yet another avreage TEB album for the non-demanding John Doe. I am here also putting on the spot the label Materiali Sonori at stakes: I strongly suspect them to have watered down the few tapes they had from this session and elongated the sauce to make a two album worth of too few ideas.

Clearly , the Arab influences are again present (as was the main novelty in the previous Brain waves) , but what is immediately noticeable is Sweeney's percussions are simply too perfect methodic and repeated endlessly without any breaks not to be programmed. The second track Runes is probably the highlight in an otherwise relatively lacklustre selection of tracks that have that definitive "déjà-entendu" feel. A very disappointing album.

Should you choose to investigate the second period TEB , you might be well advised to Live Ghosts or Radio Sessions.

3 stars The activity of the band after it had seceded from the Harvest label was not necessarily positive. However, it acts about the music intermittently done as a result. And, the topic of the re-formation of the band that had surfaced in the latter half of the 80's will have been a very important event for the fan. They gradually start the activity concerning music as a result in the latter half of the 80's. The part of the music character that they originally had and thought has succeeded in the refinement's that catches a universal part and the age coexisting. Their music characters after the re-formation might be assumed to be a result and an enchantment element give the impression that is the retreat. However, the idea and the arrangement directionality in the part that was the nucleus and at that time will have been the music for them.

The person at the center of Third Ear Band is Glen Sweeney. Their activities go back to 1967. Giant Sun Trolley that performed as an antecedent of the band on the road exactly gave all the activities as the player. They form Hydrogen Jukebox and will act before long with the club of London. And, it makes oneself better known in the event that the magazine of Britain sponsored. The flow to which this flow establishes the position as Third Ear Band in 1968 is drawn.

Glen Sweeney is actually said that it positively acted as a player in the field of music and the play. Especially, their debut albums are famous to some degree. However, the reaction of media and the audience concerning their activities at that time and the music characters might have been a little special. Peculiar power in diversity and the 60's concerning the music character at this time might have spread certainly without staying in music. The fashion and thought have especially spread to the field of music. There was a fact said that it competed with the priest of Druid in the debut concert of Third Ear Band, too. Media are described for their music as "Sound of Druid".

Especially, music character that men at that time were doing. It is a flow that the forward part is followed to the nucleus of Rock. The tune and the thought reflected in the album pushing the flavor of Raga Rock out forward had complete union.

After the 70's, the flow concerning the activity of the band became intermittent as a result. However, after the re-formation, the thought that they had and the music character are projected enough to the work. It might be thought of Glen Sweeney and be a result based on the idea.

Some materials exist as a sound source before this album. However, the composition and union as the studio album remarkably show their re-starts by this album. Oboe player's Paul Minns that acts with Glen Sweeney and Violin player's Allen Samuel are already away from the band. The musician who is participating in this album as member's changing places is Violin player's Neil Black. And, active Lyn Dobson takes charge of Sax and Flute as a member of Soft Machine.

Flow of Punk music that happened in the latter half of the 70's. Or, an intermittent activity by the member who was related to the band in the latter half of the 80's did not give them the impression of a real start. They are ideas of men who spent and the Music characters in the album. These are uniting of a past following and the refined music character indeed.

As for "Behind The Pyramids", the rhythm and the melody of the repetition are impressive. Repetition of enchantment melody with guitar. And, the repetition of the rhythm that decides the impression of the tune flows. The melody of Flute and Sax in close relation to the part gives the listener a classic melody and mystery impression. The sound is refined. However, a universal part is had both in their music characters.

A transparent feeling and the anacatesthesia of "Reading The Runes" might be splendid. Flow of melody of Soprano Sax that moves freely. Or, the sound of the electronic decoration processed by the effect. And, it is partial of the repetition of the bass that continues because of a constant sound. It is a tune to a very active composition that has finished.

"Solstice Song" starts by the melody that gives the impression of Ethno. Part of refined melody and chorus. And, the melody of Ethno in close relation to the ad-lib of Sax has a good sense of relief. The sound and the sense of relief that the age is introduced might develop their new parts. And, the impression that twining of the guitar is good for the tune is given. The refined part of Talking Heads and King Crimson in the 80's will be recollected if it says without fearing the misunderstanding. Or, the element of Guru Guru to introduce Ethno is reminiscent.

The anacatesthesia of the guitar and twining of the rhythm of "Sun Ra Raga" are impressive. And, the ad-lib of Sax twines and it progresses. There are not so many enchantment impressions that they had. However, it might have the sense of unity of the album if it considers it as making the sound at this time. It can be felt that the element of Raga Rock that appears everywhere is also enough. And, repeated rhythm and melody give the gaga part. This might be their flavors.

The part of the music character that the band originally had appears remarkably in "Necromancy". The band remarkably expresses it by an enchantment composition and an avant-garde composition. Repeated rhythm. And, Sax and the effect flow. The melody and the composition made anxious give an avant-garde composition. The tune gradually becomes intense and receives the top.

"Third Ear Raga" is a sound source of live done in 1989. Part of mysterious scat that flows quietly in space. The composition might be complete Raga Rock. Enchantment melody of flute. And, the arpeggio of the guitar with a transparent feeling. The performance of the band combines with the rhythm. The chorus and the guitar might be processed by the effect. The melody of the repetition and Raga Rock is complete. The performance of the band that doesn't specify the sounds of musical instruments gives a mysterious impression. Their existence might have been exactly shown.

The music character done as Third Ear Band and the activity might be advanced with indeed original directionality. And, the element of the band consistently united accomplished a few changes in the age. The impression of the refinement and invariability to listen shows their surely existence in the album.
