Pakhus 1 biography
Founded in København, Denmark in 1976 - Disbanded in 1986

PAKHUS 1 was an instrumental jazz rock group from København formed in 1975 by guitarists Frank JENSEN and Fredrik SØEGAARD. The name originated from a warehouse in Coppenhagen where the band practiced and the band logo was the port's sign. By the end of 1976 the group were playing their first concert and featured full line-up with Henrik SCHALTZ on drums, Aage HAGEN on keyboards and Klaus KJELLERUP on bass.

After a number of concerts where they even supported Jukka TOLONEN on one of his tours, they recorded their first album 'Paysano' but which was ultimately shelved because the record label PolyGram would rather employ members into activities related to the reggae pop rock group TOSEDRENGENE. This would lead to changes in the line-up and volatility in activity for a number of years where the group would switch between playing as PAKHUS 1 and members leaving to play for TOSEDRENGENE. Founder Fredrik SØEGAARD himself is randomly attacked after one of the concerts and stops playing for a while. In 1981 JENSEN and SØEGAARD form a group with different members but continue under the name PAKHUS 1; this would be the line-up that would release their only record at the time 'Guide', which is more in the line of typical 80's fusion of the time but still adventurous as their group was. After the release of the album, the group is dissolved for good.

In 2019 the members met up and decided to release their first lost album 'Paysano' that was originally recorded in 1977.
