CRYPTIC RUSE is a one-man project founded by Igliashon JONES from Seattle, Washington in 2006. The debut album "Sierpinski's Casket" was released in June of 2006 and since then, the project has released an impressive amount of albums.

The project's style uses a microtonal 23-step scale producing a very dynamic sound that borrows from drone and doom metal to a thrashy stoner metal. The music is heavy and complex, using xenharmonics, complex time signatures and signal processing. JONES plays all of the instruments, but also utilizes other musicians such as Ben SPLEES from THE MERCURY TREE (on the 2020 album Unfertile) among others.

This challenging, engaging and entertaining music will appeal to those that love the complex sounds of THE MERCURY TREE, KAYO DOT, and SECRET CHIEFS 3. Influences include MAMMATUS, MESHUGGAH, THE SWORD, SUNN O))), SECRET CHEIFS 3, SLEEP, and LAST SACRAMENT.
