BURIAL IN THE SKY is a tech/extreme prog metal band from Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania which was founded in 2013 by James TOMEDI (guitars, keyboards, bass) and Will OKRONGLIS (vocals, guitars). The duo actually began making music together in 2009 and in 2010, formed the band ASCAIN, then later, in 2012, started another project called ODIUM COMPLEX. A year after this, they recruited drummer Joseph ROSSI and BURIAL IN THE SKY was born and they released their debut EP "Psychosis" which was followed by the 2nd EP "Transcendence".

Will left the project in 2016 along with Joseph, and James was left to reform the band. At this time, he brought in Jimmy MURPHY on vocals and Sam STEWART on drums. The band then released their first full-length album "Persistence of Thought" that same year. Then in 2018, Jorel HART (ex-COGNITIVE vocalist) took over the vocal duties, but was only considered a studio musician when the project released its 2nd full-length album "Creatio et Hominus". At this time, Zach STROUSE (who guested for the band RIVERS OF NIHIL) was recruited and he helped James by taking over the duties of bassist and also added his talent as saxophonist for the band full-time for this 2nd album. Jorel HART then became a full-time member in 2019 and Brad HETTINGER was recruited making this a dual-lead-guitar project. The band finally released its 3rd full-length album "The Consumed Self" in 2021 with the following line-up: James TOMEDE (guitars, keyboards, etc), Brad HETTINGER (guitars), Jorel HART (vocals), Zach STROUSE (bass, saxophone), Sam STEWART (drums).

BURIAL IN THE SKY plays a progressive, technical death metal which ranges from both extremes, atmospheric to brutal, with psychedelic undertones that make them unique in their genre, but should appeal to fans of COEXISTENCE, INTONATE, CONTRARIAN, FLESHBORE, LUNA'S CALL and FRACTAL UNIVERSE.
