Kevel biography
An atmospheric sludge metal band from Athens, Greece, Kevel were formed in 2012 by guitarists Markos Samaras and Kostas Katsaros, bassist Antonis Koumoundouros and drummer Thanasis Politis.

Kevel's self-released 2014 debut, Hz of the Unheard, was an instrumental record operating under more traditional progressive sludge idioms. The next six years saw the departure of Samaras and the band gaining attention from I, Voidhanger Records, who released their sophomore Mutatis Mutandis in 2020. The James Plotkin-mastered LP demonstrated a significant expansion of sound, retaining Kevel's post-metal foundation and adding a pronounced black metal influence, with Katsaros adding vocals and synthesizers to the band's compositions.

Kevel's style has been compared to Russian Circles, Regarde Les Hommes Tomber, Mastodon, the Great Old Ones, Tuber and Blut aus Nord.
