Farsot biography
Founded in 1999, Farsot are a German progressive black metal quintet from Gotha. Signed to German label Lupus Lounge, the musicians hide beyond cryptic pseudonyms, with the only identifiable member being guitarist Tobias Piater (aka Pi: 1T 5r; formerly of Mosaic), accompanied by vocalist 10.XIXt, guitarist 3818.w, bassist/keyboardist v.03/170 and drummer R 215k.

Influenced by Darkthrone, Mayhem, Abigor, Enslaved and Emperor, the band released two demos in 2001 and 2004 respectively, evolving from a raw and straightforward approach to a more avant-garde and adventurous form drawing from sludge and doom metal as well as grunge and progressive rock. Farsot's three full-lengths - 2007's IIII, 2011's Insects and 2017's Fail·Lure - are loose concept albums which "grapple with the human psyche [...] expressing the human frailty", in the band's words. Farsot's most recent activity was a two-song split with atmospheric black metal band (and fellow German) ColdWorld in 2018.
