Jim Kirkwood biography
Jim Kirkwood is a British progressive electronic musician, active since the late 1980's. With nearly a hundred releases to his name, Kirkwood performs a visionary hybrid of Berlin School and the black metal-adjacent electronic subgenre known as dungeon synth, crafting gothic and melodic ambience with a symphonic and dramatic bent.

Kirkwood's early works were mostly self-released on cassette before he established the Dark Age Music record label in 1998 to distribute his albums on CDR. Each instrumental LP was a conceptual piece inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien and paganism, which Kirkwood renounced in 2012 upon becoming a born-again Christian, returning to music-making with drastically different themes and an abiding admiration for C.S. Lewis. Kirkwood published a Bandcamp page in early 2020, uploading new works as well as archival releases from across his vast discography.
