Tone Float biography
Active in 1997, Tone Float were a short-lived spin-off of North American psychedelic/krautrock band Vas Deferens Organization. Based in Texas, Tone Float were a studio project and veritable homage to the experimental sounds of late 1960s/early 1970s krautrock, uniting VDO's Matt Castille and Eric Lumbleau with Mazinga Phaser's Wanz Dover, Comet's Daniel Huffman and Doug Ferguson, for whom VDO did production work for his band Ohm's debut album.

With a sound dubbed by the band as "explicitly geared toward the psych/prog collector geek circuit", echoes of classic Tangerine Dream, early Kraftwerk, Can, Amon Düül and Guru Guru are filtered through the quintet's warped sensibilities, aptly described by Aural Innovations as "the Residents playing minimalist electronic Krautrock". Dover and Huffman departed the project before the full-length's completion, each contributing two pieces to the resulting eight-track LP, Musik von Tone Float, released on compact disc via Timothy's Brain in 1997.
