Steven Wray Lobdell biography
Hailing from the United States, Steven Wray Lobdell is an experimental guitarist and producer. Lobdell collaborated live and in the studio with both versions of krautrock titans Faust, beginning with their reunion album Rien up to 2010's Faust Is Last. Simultaneously, Lobdell advanced his own take on krautrock with the Davis Redford Triad quintet. In his role as audio engineer, Lobdell has recorded, mastered and occasionally played on records for the likes of Six Organs of Admittance, SubArachnoid Space, Built to Spill, Quasi and even Agalloch.
Lobdell's humble discography consists of two instrumental albums, both released by Portland label Holy Mountain: 2000's Automatic Writing by the Moon, a thirteen-track odyssey through studio-manipulated psychedelic folk (featuring a cover of Victor Jara's "The Departure"), and 2004's Live at Club Donut, an improvised live performance of raga-influenced guitar squall in the vein of Pelt and Skullflower.
