Tantric Bile biography
Appearing in 2021, Tantric Bile is the goregrind/brutal prog studio project of North American multi-instrumentalist Matt Stephens, the man behind Effluence and Neural Indent. Stylistically, Tantric Bile doesn't fall far from Effluence's free jazz-inspired avant-death metal; with their band name referencing a Painkiller track, it's no surprise the project takes obvious cues from John Zorn and Naked City, along with detectable influences from Encenathrakh, Fant�mas, the Flying Luttenbachers and even Nurse With Wound. Unintelligible guttural vocals, squealing saxophone, film samples and a playfully surrealist atmosphere all form the foundation of Stephens' improvised bludgeon.

As of this writing, the project's discography (released on Stephens' label Putrefactive Recordings) consists of four full-lengths and two EPs, on which Stephens is often accompanied by regular Effluence collaborators Paul Acu�a and Ollie Burgess. 2022's Baka LP was a temporary deviation for Tantric Bile, dropping their metallic barrage in favour of a warped exotica/avant-prog "sonic interpretation of the 1980 film Tanya's Island."
