Trindade biography
Marcus Viana, the leader of the Brazilian Symphonic Prog band Sagrado Coração da Terra, joined the excellent singer Carla Villar and the renowned singer, composer, guitarist and viola player Tavinho Moura to create the album 'Trindade' in 1993. The project thus brought together three great names from the Minas Gerais music scene, each with their own very personal interpretation of the vast diversity of the region's characteristic sounds, both traditional and progressive.

Their self-titled album features songs and arrangements by Marcus Viana and Tavinho Moura, some in partnership with lyricists such as Fernando Brant and Murilo Antunes, the results of the collaboration being further enhanced by the vocals of Carla Villar. The 'Trindade' album is much more than just a recording of a collection of songs though, it is a union of musicalities where the end result transcends the sum of its individual parts.

This album was originally made to order for a company in 1993 as a special gift at the beginning of the CD recording era, and Marcus Viana had wanted to release the album commercially for a long time afterwards because he believed that people who follow his solo work and that of Sagrado Coração da Terra would most certainly like it. The CD was eventually re-released in 2002 by the same Sonhos & Sons record label that handled the original CD in 1993.

With its very well-crafted progressive moments, this is indeed a symphonic MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) album of the highest quality. The orchestrations are very reminiscent of both the atmosphere of the Pantanal natural region of South America itself, and also Marcus Viana's solo work, but Carla Villar's wonderfully soft yet clear vocals, and Tavinho Moura's delicate acoustic guitar and viola caipira sounds make the trio stand out in a unique way.

Several arrangements are based on the moods of the soundtrack of the infamous Brazilian soap opera 'Pantanal' and the work of Marcus's main band Sagrado Coração da Terra. Other pieces were written by musicians from the Clube da Esquina Brazilian music artists collective, which originated in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. These included Beto Guedes, Fernando Brant and Marcio Borges, among others.

Musicians from Sagrado Coração da Terra participated in the progressive closing track 'Cruzada', and the version of Amor Selvagem on the album - performed here with Carla's female vocals, Viana's piano, Andersen's flute, and originall...
