Bakelit biography
Bakelit is a new Swedish progressive art rock project, founded by Carl WESTHOLM known from CARPTREE, CANDLEMASS, AVATARIUM, JUPITER SOCIETY, KRUX, ABSTRAKT ALGEBRA, HOLLINGSHEADd and others with collaborators and friends from earlier projects. The debut album "Asleep or Insane" was released in October 2024, with single "The Coolest Place on Earth".
Less than a year later, Bakelit is back with "No Fear of Drowning" on September 26th 2025. Just like its predecessor, the songs evolved from sessions involving unpredictable electronic machinery, eventually developing into six tracks that straddle the line between progressive art rock and electronic music. Drummer Jonas Källsbäck, known from THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA, GATHERING OF KINGS, and other acts, joins the line-up for this album.
?No Fear of Drowning? is a dramatic album, with lyrics that explore the darker aspects of the human psyche, yet these are the very qualities that can make us stronger and more determined to do good.
The album will be released worldwide on 26 September 2025, preceded by the singles "From the Underground" on 5 September and "Moment of Peace" on 15 September.
